How To Find A Profitable Online Niche

I’ve been following Pat Flynn and Tyrone Shum lately, and these two Internet entrepreneurs are currently in the process of creating niche websites and competing against one another to see which one can make the most money in the shortest amount of time. Click here to read more about the competition. I thought this sounded like a lot of fun, so I’ve decided to create my own niche website (completely from scratch) and see what happens.

In the video below you will see which niche I selected, why I selected that particular niche, and how I picked my domain name.

You may need to watch the video above in HD in order to see exactly what I am doing on the screen.

While I’m still very excited about my little pogo stick website, there are some obvious things going against me in this particular niche.

First of all, the traffic for my keywords is not particularly high. You normally want to find a niche receiving way more than 10,000 searches per month. I don’t know how this will affect my final results, but it is definitely going to be something that holds me back from making A LOT of money with this particular site. But who knows? I was able to turn my niche website at www.bicycletouringpro.com into a full-time income generating website. Maybe pogo sticks will work for me as well? I doubt PogoTricks.com will produce quite the same amount of income, traffic, or number of raving fans as Bicycle Touring Pro, but we’ll soon find out.

The other bad thing about this niche is that there are no affiliate products for me to market and promote on the website. At least, there aren’t any that I could find.

There are, however, a number of different pogo sticks that I can sell and receive affiliate income from. These pogo sticks range in price from $30 USD to $500 USD, so I’ll obviously be pushing for sales on the pogo sticks that are on the more expensive end of the spectrum. Plus, the pogo sticks that cost $300 – $500 are the ones that you can do amazing high-flying tricks on, so those are the ones I will want to talk about most of the time anyways.  A 6% Amazon commission on a $300 – $500 pogo stick would get me about $18 – $30 USD per sale. A couple of those each day would certainly be nice.

In addition to the pogo sticks, I am going to try and sell some multi-sport helmets… and if I can get my website up to the first page of Google for the keywords “pogo tricks” and/or “pogo stick tricks” I am going to look into creating an eBook or video that walks the buyer through the process of how to do 50 or more different tricks on their pogo stick. There are no real  “how-to pogo stick” products on the marketplace at the moment, so I’m hoping that if I am the first person to produce such a product, that that product will provide me with a nice little chunk of passive income for the next several years.

So, there you have it. Watch the video above… Check out my new niche website at www.pogotricks.com if you haven’t done so already… And stay tuned for my next article, in which I plan to discuss how exactly I set up my pogo stick website in less than 4 hours.
