The website design at www.historicparkcity.com plays to the resort town’s silver mining roots. Rather than showcasing Park City as a modern, high-end affair (like so many other Park City websites tend to do), the Historic Park City website keeps it old school – or in this case, old town. Everything from the transparent scrolling featured images on the homepage to the fonts and graphics used throughout the site plays on the town’s historic past. Historicparkcity.com is a daring and well designed website that was built to not only promote the town of Park City, but also to bring business to the city’s numerous shops, vendors, and companies.

The website at www.theadventurists.com is not perfect, but it the type of site that is going to appeal to the few individuals crazy enough to actually attempt some of the wild adventures that are featured on the site.

The Adventurists is a group of individuals in the UK that offer extreme travel adventures that few people in their right mind would dare to participate in. But that’s exactly what makes this website so incredible!

The events featured on the website include a 1,000 kilometer horseback race across Mongolia, a race across India in motorized rickshaws, a winter crossing of Siberia on a motorcycle, and a whole lot of other wild and wacky outdoor/travel adventures.

While the navigation for the website is a bit confusing and is more like a game of hide-and-seek than an example of easy-to-find pagination, this actually makes the site perfect for those who might want to actually participate in these adventures in the first place. Finding all the information you want/need on the site is kind of like a game, which in reality, is probably (to a super small degree at least) what it would be like to participate in one of these featured trips.

The website is colorful, flashy and fun! What I like most about The Adventurists‘ website, however, are the large, full-screen photos that are featured on each of the website’s sub-pages. These photos not only transport you to various locations all around the world, but make you want to jump into each of these adventures and give it a try for yourself.

The German lifestyle website at www.amypink.com is a beautiful example of a magazine inspired web blog. The photo-centric website is pretty much pixel-perfect and features the following inspirational design elements:

• A large, full-screen background image that changes on a regular basis.
• A unique 1,116 pixel width wrap (which allows for 300×250 ads in the sidebar and large photos in the main content area)
• A large 728×90 ad space in the header that occasionally extends to the right and beyond the normal width of the site to display additional ads running down the length of the main content area (surely a big money-maker for the website).
• A consistent white, black and pink design with other colors mixed in (each color corresponding to a different category/subject matter) so as to not make you sick of seeing so much pink.
• High-quality (and frequent nude) photos (that draw you further into the site).
• A fast scrolling new article sidebar widget.
• Fun grid-based photo galleries.
• And content that is easy to find (because it has been divided into easy to understand categories like: life, music, art, fashion, film, nerd stuff, literature, japan, sex, backstage, videos, etc.)
